Creeping Dragon Art

Below is a painting which I created as a background for a series of House Concerts running as part of the Hostry Festival in Norwich.
I am really pleased with how it has come out and have had a lot of positive feedback so far.
Enjoy.

Having just finished my submission to paint a new front cover for Norwich's Hostry Festival brochure I thought it would be nice to share.

It took me a surprisingly short amount of time (a few evenings) and I really enjoyed the looseness of the painting as a sharp contrast to the high detail work I have been doing recently.

My image is based on the fantastic photograph by Paul Tyagi which is currently the front cover for the festival brochure.

My recent exhibition at St Margarets Church has been a relative success. Everyone I had a chance to speak to about my work seemed really positive about it and even better a lot of them said they hadn't seen anything like it before (which is excellent as it means I am on the right tracks to getting noticed!).
I also had a bunch of greetings cards printed out so I have a more affordable option available to sell if anyone likes my images. The cards are decorated with prints that can be seen in Gallery Two.

Now I am moving on to concentrate on my bonsai project with renewed vigour as the exhibition is creeping ever closer!

I am very pleased to announce I will be putting on an exhibition of paintings along with quite a number of other Norwich artists at St Margarets Church, St Benedicts Street , Norwich.
Entitled 'The good, the mad and the beautiful' as part of the Art of Norwich series.
Show is open to the public from the 2nd of August and the private view is on Friday the 13th of August.

So, I have my first exhibition outside of University life is booked and waiting to happen.

It might end up being a bit of a leap forward (or possibly sideways, i'm not actually sure yet!) as I am branching into sculpture for the first time in I don't know how many years.

It was a stroke of luck to be included in this exhibition (Music and Environment @ St Gregory's Church in Norwich, created by a collection of students and ex-students from Norwich University College of the Arts) as I was a bit late making my interest known. As a result I wasn't part of the process when it came to selecting a theme, which is why I think it is some form of fate that I have the perfect project for it which was just waiting for a reason to be created.

The project is going to be based around some dead bonsai trees I have been lucky enough to acquire and will involve me potting them in clear or semi-clear resin so the roots are still visible. Anything further along the process from this is yet to be decided but I have had some interesting input about creating reflections and exciting ways to display my little trees. Hopefully I am going to be able to give them a new lease of life!

That is all for now but I will keep you updated on my progress!
